The 2007 reserve vintage of The Benches Red is a powerful full bodied blend of merlot (58%), cabernet sauvignon (17%), syrah (17%), and malbec (8%).
The wine shows complex spice, vanilla and blackcurrants on the nose leading to a rich mouthful of currants, warm spice, savoury complexity and supple tannins on the palate.
The wine is crafted in our boutique winery from our hand picked grapes, crushed, fermented in stainless steel with periodic pumping overor plunging, then aged for 20 months in new and seasoned oak barriques.
Cellaring: up to 5 years
The estate grown grapes come from sun baked terraced slopes of a north facing basin with free draining limestone soils over a clay sublayer. With an elevationup to 250m and a latitude of 40º, they reflect our unique local terroir.
